VICENS AGAIN IN ANOTHER EDITION OF THE MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK IN MADRID

VICENS RETURNS TO THE MBFW MADRID BY PABLO ERROZ AND THE IKAT FABRIC WAISTCOAT WEARED BY BEGOÑA GÓMEZ.

In the present edition of the MBFW 2022, Vicens has been present again, with a design by Pablo Erroz, which was worn by the wife of the President of Spain, Begoña Gómez. Pedro Sánchez’s wife attended the fashion show wearing a vest made with our ikat fabric, model 61 pink b,  from the collection that the designer presented last year on this same stage https://teixitsvicens.com/en/teixits-vicens-debuta-en-la-pasarela-mercedes-benz-fashion-week-madrid/ The total look with which Begoña Gómez attended the event has made her demands clear: on the one hand, her support for proposals, such as that of Erroz, which represents the traceability of garments, which recovers the traditional way of creating fabrics and is committed to the circular economy, and on the other, sending a very clear message, displaying a black T-shirt where you could read “ Einstein was a refugee”, along with a photograph of the face of the famous scientist, father of the Theory of Relativity and winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics.
This year Pablo Erroz has presented the Non Seasonal 22.23 collection https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CcwLEkVJhY8 where he has mixed sophisticated, contemporary and modern luxury. Unisex and timeless garments made with 100% natural materials: napas, wool, cashmere, linen or silk knit, in which the traditional Majorcan Ikat cannot be missing.
The Minister of Culture and Sports Miquel Iceta made an appearance at the MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK together with the fashion designer Modesto Lomba, to give his support to the sector and highlight, as he told EFE just before the show began, that fashion is “culture and industry and we are interested in everything that adds value to the growth of the country”. https://www.huffingtonpost.es/entry/miquel-iceta-acude-a-su-primer-desfile-en-la-pasarela-de-madrid-para-apoyar-al-sector_es_622a513ee4b0296158385f10
At Vicens we feel very proud that our handmade fabrics, made conscientiously, are protagonists once again and contribute to preserving our culture and tradition. In this sense, we have been especially excited to be part of the proposals of a designer that Vogue magazine has defined as a worthy “heir to New York cool”.

The vest fabric model is one of the latest designs we have created. Although the drawing was designed 6 years ago in other colors, and has been copied repeatedly by different manufacturers, the truth is that, in this intense pink color, it has given us a lot of joy.

TEIXITS VICENS FINALIST IN THE NATIONAL CRAFTSMANSHIP AWARDS

The 14th edition of the Awards has received 116 applications from all over Spain and Teixits Vicens is among the three finalists for the National Craft Award.

From Teixits Vicens, we feel very honored and proud to be among the three finalists to win the National Craft Prize awarded by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism through EOI and its Fundesarte chair.

The objective of this area is to promote handicrafts and contribute to the development and competitiveness of SMEs in the artisan sector, as well as to encourage innovation, design and their ability to adapt to the market.

This award is intended to recognize a consolidated work as a whole. At Teixits Vicens, today, we work the fourth and fifth generation. We follow in the wake of the family saga creating new drawings and colors and overcoming objectives and challenges in terms of design and creation of new projects.

Finding the balance between artisan work and the new technological-social tools, which emerged in the 20th century, is a challenge that we don’t want to miss.

The human team that makes up the company is young people who have learned the trade and feel very involved with the work they do and what they contribute to society as a sustainable trade.

Martí Vicens’ profession as a master craftsman, and in parallel his career as an artist, have created a cultural heritage inside and outside the company. Together with his wife Antònia Capllonch, they were the third generation and the key for this company to continue to exist today, that’s why we can celebrate a recognition like this at a national and international level.

TEIXITS VICENS DEBUTS AT THE MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK MADRID

FROM THE HAND OF DESIGNER PABLO ERROZ, TEIXITS VICENS, DEBUTS WITH ITS IKAT FABRICS AT THE MBFWMadrid.

The Mallorcan designer has opted for his latest collection “Non-seasonal 2022”, presented on the MBFWMadrid fashion show, for a more sustainable fashion and contributing to local growth. In this bet he has had several models of our handmade ikat fabrics. Fabrics that, turned into unisex garments, have turned out to be a show on the catwalk. Pablo Erroz has used fabrics that are part of existing games, like ours. No fabric has been created for this collection. In this way, it is committed to sustainable local growth.pablo erroz mercedes benz fashion week madrid april 2021
Genderless is the term by which unisex clothing is known. With this idea, Erroz responds to a change of thought and mentality that is taking place today. That is why the versatility of Vicens fabrics has been so successful. The important thing about his proposal is not whether the garment is for a man or a woman, the important thing is that each person gives their own interpretation of him and makes them his own.

Teixits Vicens is an artisan textile company where we manufacture ikat fabrics, or as they are known on the island “Roba de llengües”. An ancient technique that came to Mallorca through the silk route in the 16th century.

Being a fabric manufacturer gives us the freedom to collaborate with designers, architects, companies, individuals … Be it in a photo session for a magazine or for the decoration of a house, hotel or space. We also design and produce exclusive pieces for customers who demand it. We develop joint or independent projects based on the exclusivity of our fabrics.
We have been working for 5 generations to keep our culture alive. The human team that makes up the company are young people who have learned the trade and feel very involved with the work they do and what they contribute to society as a sustainable business. That is why we have been so excited to see our fabrics represented on such an important national catwalk. Thanks Pablo Erroz.

ELISAVA HOST AN EXHIBITION IN COLLABORATION WITH TEIXITS VICENS

Until next February 19, the “Sala Atrio” de Barcelona will host an exhibition by third and fourth year students of the Degree in Design and the Degree in Industrial Design Engineering, in collaboration with Teixits Vicens.

In the exhibition you can see from a pouf to an “ensaimada”, passing through several handbags, all made with clothes from Teixits Vicens. The objective of the subject “Experimentation and Product” was to propose a contemporary and experimental approach to a traditional project. From here, the students, tutored by Martín Azúa, Raquel Llaberia, David Bota and Tomás López, have developed projects addressing three perspectives: the material, the technique and the narrative based mainly on the territory, the style of life and history of the island of Mallorca.

THE DECORATION MAGAZINE “AD” HAS PUBLISHED A REPORT ABAUT THE REOPENING OF THE MADE IN MALLORCA FAIR AT THE ES BALUART MUSEUM IN PALMA.

On the occasion of the reopening of the Made in Mallorca handicraft fair at the Es Baluart Museum in Palma de Mallorca, the AD magazine has published a report by the different participating firms.

The magazine highlights the collection presented by Vicens & Maria Antònia Ramis, “THE MAGIC OF WOOL”. A set of pieces of different sizes that allow you to play with the spaces.

Wool, from the sheep of Mallorca, is a natural fiber that transpires, protects us because it is fire retardant and has the ability to regulate temperature and control humidity, ideal characteristics for the climate of our island.

In this edition the fair promotes the power of what we do at home, the quality of the materials and the value of the original product. Designs that have in common being products thought, created and produced on the island. Strengthen the union between the creator and the producer. For this reason, the collaboration with the artist Maria Antònia Ramis has been an enriching experience. Her artistic sensibility has been perfect to connect with the philosophy of Vicens, a company that since 1854 has been dedicated to weaving crafts fabrics and that has never stopped fighting to preserve our culture.

VICENS & ANTIC MALLORCA· “LLATA” JEWELS WITH THE IKAT FABRICS THREADS

Antic Mallorca and Teixits Vicens create an original jewelry collection.

The union of two ancient crafts from Mallorca such as the “llata” and the ikat fabrics, shapes this collection of jewels created by Antic Mallorca and Teixits Vicens, which proposes a renewed vision and a different use of the materials of both crafts .

Bracelets, pendants, chokers and belts of palm leaves with touches of Mediterranean blue, turquoise, purple and ecru colors, in the shape of “llengües” deconstructed to its minimum expression, cotton threads.

The result is an original, fresh, happy, natural and positive jewelry collection that after the long period of confinement invites you to go out, enjoy summer in the Mediterranean, on our nice island, and to be aware of the small treasures and the importance to keep holding them.

The jewels are for sale in the Teixits Vicens store in Pollença, in their online store www.teixitsvicens.com, in the online store www.anticmallorca.com and in selected hotels in Mallorca along with other brands from the Mallorca Fashion Collective to which both firms belong, in an action to support local fashion production promoted by the IDI (Institut d’Innovació Empresarial de les Illes Balears).

Vicens and Antic Mallorca share a work philosophy, both brands seek beauty, quality and authenticity, and for this they pamper both the design and the entire process, without fear of going slower to achieve the expected end result. With this collaboration, the two brands have felt very comfortable working, with great harmony and it has been a good opportunity to continue learning more about Mallorcan crafts.

THE MAGIC OF WOOL

Teixits Vicens and Maria Antònia Ramis. The idea of reusing the wool of our sheep and its high quality, as was done in the past with the mattresses, is the basis of this collaboration. The result is a collection of pieces and sizes that allow you to play with the spaces. Wool is a natural fiber that transpires, protects us because it is fire retardant and has the ability to regulate temperature and control humidity, ideal characteristics for the climate of our island. In addition, it are sustainable pieces that last over time and recover the mattress trade, which is part of our intangible heritage. It has been surprising to see how wool is linked to our memory, and we would like it to be linked to our present from now on. The beauty of the ikat fabrics woven by the craftsmen of Vicens, make our dream possible, giving consistency, firmness and a good structure to the mattresses, making all the pieces precious both on the outside and on the inside, just as we all want to be.
